Scholar Speak

A Flagship Academic Initiative by LexFunis, Enabling Students, Research Scholars and Early-Career Professionals to Present Their Published Work as Structured Scholarly Lectures.

About Scholar Speak

LexFunis Scholar Speak is a flagship academic initiative aimed at providing law students, forensic science students, research scholars, and early-career professionals with a credible platform to present their published research in the form of structured academic lectures. The initiative is premised on the belief that rigorous research should not remain confined to journals alone, but must actively inform teaching, dialogue, and practice.

The Scholar Speak is uniquely designed to transform peer-reviewed and formally published research papers into focused lectures delivered before an informed audience of students, scholars, and practitioners. Each lecture is strictly grounded in the presenter’s own research, ensuring academic integrity, depth, and originality. By doing so, LexFunis seeks to bridge the gap between research and pedagogy while fostering meaningful scholarly engagement.

Through the Scholar Speak, LexFunis promotes student-led academic discourse, strengthens research communication skills, and encourages critical engagement with contemporary legal and forensic issues. Selected lectures may be archived as academic resources, further extending the reach and impact of student scholarship. This initiative reflects LexFunis’ commitment to nurturing a research-driven academic culture and recognizing emerging voices in law and forensic sciences.

Objectives

1.

To cultivate a culture of student-led academic discourse that is firmly grounded in original, methodologically sound research, thereby encouraging intellectual autonomy, critical inquiry, and scholarly innovation among participants.

2.

To promote rigorous and reflective engagement with existing bodies of published scholarship, enabling students to critically analyse, contextualise, and build upon established academic literature within their respective fields of study.

3.

To strengthen participants’ research communication capabilities by providing structured opportunities to translate complex research findings into coherent, persuasive, and academically rigorous lectures, thereby enhancing both oral presentation and scholarly articulation skills.

4.

To develop advanced academic presentation competencies, including argument structuring, evidentiary reasoning, and audience-oriented delivery, which are essential for participation in conferences, classrooms, and broader scholarly forums.

5.

To establish and curate a sustainable repository of research-based lectures that serves as an open-access academic resource, facilitating knowledge sharing, interdisciplinary learning, and long-term engagement within the wider academic and research community.

Eligibility

1.

Undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in programmes of law, forensic science, criminology, criminal justice, and other allied or interdisciplinary disciplines, who demonstrate a strong interest in research-driven academic engagement.

2.

Research scholars, including doctoral and post-graduate research candidates, as well as early-career professionals from academic, research, or practice-oriented backgrounds, who are actively engaged in scholarly inquiry and knowledge production.

3.

Applicants must be the original author or a co-author of the research paper forming the basis of the proposed lecture, thereby ensuring authenticity, intellectual ownership, and a direct engagement with the research process and findings being presented.

Selection & Review Process

1.

All submissions are subject to an initial screening to verify eligibility, authorship, and the relevance of the research to the objectives of the Scholar Speak.

2.

Eligible submissions are reviewed for academic merit, originality, methodological rigour, and clarity of the proposed lecture outline, based on the submitted research paper.

3.

Preference may be accorded to research that demonstrates clear scholarly contribution, interdisciplinary relevance, or pedagogical value for academic audiences.

4.

Final selection is made by the Scholar Speak's academic review committee. Selected scholars are notified individually and provided with further instructions regarding lecture scheduling and format.
